Mighty Is Her Call’s 2026 pilgrimage, “Mother Church, Mother Saints” was perhaps a first-ever of its kind—experiencing Rome and beyond through the lens of motherhood, seeing how mothers and ordinary lay folk built Christian Rome—from St. Helena, who built the first basilica in Rome, to St. Monica, without whom we would not have St. Augustine, father of Western theology. We saw St. Rita of Cascia, a great saint, wife, mother, and later Augustinian nun. It ran from June 20-29, as we journeyed from Rome to Assisi, down through Cascia and back to Rome. The best part? The people. What a joyful, prayerful, loving group! How blessed I am to have been able to share in this extraordinary experience.
